WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Leapfrog Group, an industry-leading nonprofit that assesses healthcare quality and safety of hospitals across the U.S., has honored 10 Novant Health facilities with awards for exceptional inpatient care, medical education and outpatient surgery.
Three Novant Health hospitals earned 2025 Top General Hospital Awards, and two earned 2025 Top Teaching Hospital Awards. Leapfrog also honored five Novant Health ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) with 2025 Top Ambulatory Surgery Center Awards.

Only 156 hospitals in the country received a Top Hospital Award and only 37 ASCs received` the Top Ambulatory Surgery Center Award.

To qualify for Top Hospitals awards, facilities must achieve top performance in their category on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, which measures hospital performance against the highest standards for patient safety and quality. Earlier this year, The Leapfrog Group also awarded nine Novant Health hospitals “As” for the Fall 2025 Hospital Safety Grade scoring period.
Each recognition from industry-leading organizations such as Leapfrog exemplifies Novant Health’s work to elevate safety, quality, health equity and patient experience across the organization, as outlined in the Novant Health 2025 HeRO Playbook. The document details Novant Health’s priorities and goals, empowering team members to optimize patient care as they build on the health system’s enduring legacy of clinical excellence.
This includes using technology to enhance performance and patient experience, such as real-time data dashboards to monitor outcomes and identify new best practices for safety and quality. The health system also places a heavy emphasis on continual education for team members, including in leading-edge health technology.
