Expert neurologist joins Novant Health, expanding access to specialty care in Greensboro and High Point

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Dr. Antonia Ahern, a double board-certified neurologist and headache medicine specialist, has joined the Novant Health network to exapand access to advanced neurological care in Greensboro and High Point.

Ahern is an expert in diagnosing and managing a wide range of neurological conditions, including headache disorders (migraine, tension-type headache, cluster headache, trigeminal neuralgia and other primary and secondary headache disorders), neuromuscular and peripheral nerve disorders, cognitive concerns and general neurological disease states. She also offers Botox and other procedures to help relieve pain and increase quality of life for patients with chronic migraines.

“I believe excellent care begins with listening and understanding the whole person, not just the diagnosis,” said Ahern. “By taking a thoughtful, collaborative approach, I’m able to build trust and partner with patients to develop personalized treatment plans that align with their goals and wellness priorities.”

Ahern’s interest in medicine began at an early age, inspired by an anatomy textbook her older brother brought home. After establishing a successful career in information technology, she returned to school in her 30s – while raising two young children – to pursue her longtime goal of becoming a physician and helping patients.

She earned her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine internship at Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Hospital. Ahern went on to complete a neurology residency and clinical neurophysiology fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital. She joins Novant Health with more than 14 years of outpatient neurology experience and advanced training in migraine and headache disorders.

Ahern sees patients at two Novant Health Neurology & Sleep locations in Greensboro and High Point. The High Point location is a new clinic and is co-located with Novant Health Spine Specialists and Novant Health Brain & Spine.
