THOMASVILLE, N.C. – Dr. Hunter Collins, a double board-certified neurologist, headache and facial pain specialist and epileptologist, has joined Novant Health to expand access to advanced neurological services in Davidson County.
Dr. Collins specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide range of neurological conditions, including headaches, facial pain, epilepsy, stroke, dementia and cerebrovascular disease. He also administers Botox and other minimally invasive procedures to relieve pain and other related symptoms for his patients.
“I’m passionate about helping patients regain their quality of life,” said Collins. “That begins with education and making sure that patients understand their diagnosis and feel empowered to partner with our multidisciplinary care team as we navigate their treatment plan together.”
Collins earned his medical degree at Rush Medical College at Rush University Medical Center. He went on to complete his internal medicine internship at Louisiana State University, followed by a neurology residency at Texas Tech University. He later completed a fellowship in epilepsy at the Medical University of South Carolina. He joins Novant Health with more than eight years of experience caring for patients in both inpatient and outpatient neurology settings.
Before medicine, Collins worked as a chemical engineer in research and development at a global pharmaceutical company and conducted Alzheimer’s disease research at the University of Chicago while concurrently serving as a thesis adviser in Purdue University’s electrical engineering department. During medical training, Collins continued to research and received multiple teaching awards for his work with medical students and residents.
