Jeff Short joins Novant Health to cultivate and drive systemwide optimization

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health welcomed Jeff Short as senior vice president of its internal consulting group on July 8. He brings more than 15 years of experience in consulting, strategy and operations, including many years in the health care industry. As part of Novant Health’s office of transformation, Short will lead initiatives focused on operational excellence and continuous improvement.

“In this leadership role, Jeff’s experience will be instrumental as he works to identify emerging best practices and performance improvement opportunities consistent with our overall strategic plan,” said Sanjay Gupta, executive vice president and chief transformation officer. “I look forward to partnering with Jeff to develop and assist with our transformation initiatives as we work to create a healthier future and bring remarkable experiences to life.”

Novant Health’s office of transformation is dedicated to delivering impact for the organization through collaboration with regional, institute and physician network leaders to drive financial, operational and clinical improvement. The team partners with and supports departments across the system, including sourcing, supply chain, real estate, facilities management, people and culture, clinical operations and more.

As the former chief operating officer of Optum in the Tri-state region in New York, Short led clinical operations and transformation, including the migration of the physician enterprise to the Epic platform. He also held many leadership roles during his nine-year tenure at Montefiore Health System and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Among other responsibilities, he led strategic planning and analytics for the health system, as well as an organization wide operational transformation initiative across 12 hospital locations.

He is a graduate of The University of Scranton, and he earned his MBA from New York University Stern School of Business.
