Newsweek recognizes four Novant Health hospitals for delivering exceptional maternity care

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Four Novant Health hospitals have been named by Newsweek as “America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2025,” placing them among the highest-rated hospitals for maternity care across the country. East Cooper Medical Center, Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, Novant Health Matthews Medical Center and Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center made the prestigious list. This is the fourth consecutive year Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center has been named.

Newsweek and its research partner Statista used nationwide online surveys, hospital quality metrics and patient experience surveys to evaluate each hospital, recognizing those that “excel in providing exceptional care throughout the pregnancy, delivery and postpartum period.”

“We want every mother and her family to know that they will not only receive safe and compassionate care at every stage of pregnancy, but that they be supported throughout one of the most exciting of their lives as they add to their family,” said Dr. Lewis Lipscomb, physician in chief for Novant Health Women’s & Children’s Institute. “This recognition reflects our teams’ dedication to ensuring Novant Health remains at the forefront of delivering exceptional, personalized maternity care for mothers and babies. Our teams are supported by highly trained experts, advanced technology and birthing spaces that provide ease and comfort during these milestone moments for our patients.”

In 2024, the four honored Novant Health hospitals were home to nearly 14,000 deliveries – or more than half of all deliveries at Novant Health maternity care centers in North and South Carolina.

Novant Health Women’s & Children’s Institute is designed to provide specialized care for women and children at every stage of life, including maternity services. Each patient’s individual needs are assessed by clinicians with expertise in the most effective technologies and treatment options to support a healthy pregnancy and delivery. For patients who may be at high risk of developing complications during pregnancy, Novant Health offers specialized care and treatment options. This includes connecting high risk patients with perinatologists, or specialist obstetricians who have completed an additional three years of training in high-risk pregnancies.

Novant Health also offers resources to support patients, including prenatal education, support groups and outpatient breastfeeding clinics through which patients can access private in-person or video visits with board-certified Novant Health lactation consultants.
