CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Today, Novant Health held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the highly anticipated and recently constructed Novant Health Ballantyne Medical Center, scheduled to officially open on June 19. The $154 million, 36-bed community hospital is strategically positioned to provide health care services to the rapidly growing suburban population in and around southern Mecklenburg County. The new medical center will provide patients with convenient and neighborhood-like access to emergency and inpatient services, diagnostic and surgical care, maternity care, as well as a variety of on-site specialty care services, including women’s health, orthopedics and cancer.
“Our mission has and will always be focused on improving the health of our communities, one person at a time,” said Saad Ehtisham, president of Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center and senior vice president of the system’s greater Charlotte market. “We determined, based on the significant growth in the region, that it was vital to expand our offerings to better serve patients in the Ballantyne area. Like our other community hospitals, Ballantyne Medical Center will serve as a state-of-the-art medical facility and allow patients to receive the care they need close to home."
The 168,181 square-foot medical facility includes an emergency department and 36 beds for patients requiring medical or surgical care. Additionally, an adjoining 57,509 square-foot medical office building will be located on-site and provide patients with convenient access to outpatient imaging and specialty care services.
“We recognize that this is not only a growing region, but one that’s home to a diverse population that stretches across two states and ranges from young families to older adults, each with unique health care needs,” said Ben Brodersen, president and chief operating officer of Novant health Ballantyne Medical Center. “Ballantyne Medical Center and the outpatient services we co-located on campus were designed with the needs of the community in mind, including the flexibility to grow and add services as needed. Whether your family is growing or you’re an older adult in need of orthopedic support, we can meet the needs of every life stage.”
