WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Demonstrating its steadfast commitment to patient safety and quality, Novant Health has received the most “A” Hospital Safety Grades in North Carolina for the third consecutive scoring period. The Leapfrog Group awarded the health system 9 “A” grades for the Fall 2024 scoring period.

The following Novant Health hospitals outperformed nearly 70% of hospitals nationwide for safety and quality with “A” Hospital Safety Grades:

- Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center*
- Novant Health Matthews Medical Center
- Novant Health Medical Park Hospital*
- Novant Health Mint Hill Medical Center*
- Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center*
- Novant Health Rowan Medical Center*
- Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center
Seven facilities noted above * have been recognized with the elite “Straight A” designation, earning “A”s in at least five consecutive cycles of the Hospital Safety Grade.
The Novant Health Institute of Safety & Quality has created a culture centered on continuous improvement and learning. Its many practices maintain and elevate the health system’s safety culture, including daily safety huddles, patient safety coaches, the use of real-time quality dashboards and leading-edge technologies. Novant Health also participates in Vizient Inc., a quality improvement tool, to track outcomes and quality in Novant Health facilities and analyze hundreds of hospitals across the country.
A national industry-leading nonprofit, The Leapfrog Group evaluates more than 30 performance measures to assess hospital outcomes, and assigns letter grades ranging from A to F to hospitals across the country. The performance measures focus on safety, quality and patient experience.
