24/7 video care presents another option and alternative to emergency care for more routine needs
WILMINGTON, N.C. – Novant Health has expanded access to its on-demand video care platform by providing 24/7 care for patients in and around Wilmington and southeastern North Carolina. Now, whether it’s at night or on the weekend, adults and children of all ages can conveniently access and video chat with an expert Novant Health provider for diagnosis and treatment of common medical conditions.
Novant Health patients can now access on-demand care around the clock, 24/7, whereas video visits were previously offered from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
“We’re very excited to expand our existing on-demand video care capabilities to include overnight care for our patients along the coast,” said Amber Karol, director of digital health at Novant Health. “We understand that unexpected family medical conditions, such as a sick child or sudden stomach bug, are never convenient. That’s why we’re taking every step possible to remove barriers to care so our patients can receive the help they need, when they need it.”
Novant Health completed more than 1.2 million scheduled and on-demand video care visits in 2020 and 2021. That number includes data from providers with Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, which joined Novant Health in February 2021. While Novant Health has offered video care options for years, the COVID-19 pandemic led to a significant uptick in appointments.
Novant Health offers a wide variety of scheduled and on-demand video care options. No appointment is required for on-demand care. To get started, patients can sign in to MyChart through Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center and select “virtual-care visit.” If you don’t have a MyChart account, sign up here.
Novant Health also has five convenient walk-in clinics across the region that provide access to care for illnesses and injuries that happen after hours or while your primary care physician is not available. For non-emergent needs, these locations offer a quicker alternative to visiting an area emergency department when patients have more routine needs.
