Novant Health extends its network in the Triangle with the addition of Performance Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health is pleased to welcome Performance Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine in Cary, North Carolina, to its growing network of Triangle-area primary care, family medicine and sports medicine locations. The clinic, founded in 2009 by Dr. Milan DiGiulio, offers adult and pediatric orthopedic and sports medicine care for patients in and around the Triangle.

“Dr. DiGiulio has built a formidable, experienced team, delivering trusted and personalized care to the community through orthobiologic treatments and state-of-the-art surgical techniques,” said Bryan Edwards, MD, senior vice president, chief clinical strategy officer and system physician executive, Novant Health Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute. “We look forward to collaborating with Dr. DiGiulio and his team to serve patients of all ages across Wake County and the Triangle, further building Novant Health’s network in this rapidly growing area.”

Performance Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine officially opened its doors as part of Novant Health on July 28. The team offers expertise in noninvasive rehabilitation and surgical repair, having treated more than 19,000 patients over the past 16 years for injuries and conditions including fractures, sprains, strains, dislocations and arthritis. Treatments include orthobiologics, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections that can support tissue repair.

“At Performance Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine we have always put the needs of our patients first, offering them the most advanced options for orthopedic care and the voice to choose the best treatment, whether they’re a professional athlete, weekend warrior or retiree,” Dr. DiGiulio said. “As part of Novant Health, we will continue to offer Triangle communities the most knowledgeable orthopedic care with uncompromising commitment to safety and quality.”

Dr. DiGiulio is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee to repair tears in the labrum, rotator cuff, meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), performing an estimated 200 surgeries a year. He also serves as head team orthopedic surgeon for the North Carolina Courage women’s professional soccer team.
