Screenings will take place at Novant Health Lakeside Family Physicians Rosedale for students in the Lake Norman area. The clinic is located at 14330 Oakhill Park Lane, Suite 200, in Huntersville. Screenings will be held at Novant Health Cotswold Medical Clinic Arboretum, located at 7903 Providence Road, in Charlotte, for students in Charlotte area schools. Parents will select their child’s school from a list upon registration which will determine screening location.
Screenings include a review of medical history, sports-specific medical screening, heart screening, musculoskeletal and vision exams, and access to concussion testing. General medical and orthopedic physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, licensed athletic trainers and licensed physical therapists from Novant Health will provide and/or assist in the sports screenings.
Sports screenings are required by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association prior to participating in any athletic activity. The goal of the sports screening is to help maintain the health and safety of student-athletes in training and competition. The sports screening is not intended to substitute for a student’s regular physical examination.
Screenings will take place between 8 a.m. and noon. For the exam, students should wear comfortable clothing, preferably shorts and a T-shirt. Pre-registration and an appointment are required and no walk-ins will be accepted on the day of the event. Parents can register their children online at https://ppezoom.com. The time of screening is selected during patient registration. Registration will close May 15.
