WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health leader Dan Feinstein, MD, has accepted the position of system physician executive for Novant Health Hospital-Based Medicine Institute. Assuming the role Sept. 8, Feinstein will provide administrative and clinical leadership for the institute across inpatient and outpatient facilities, which includes hospitalist teams, pulmonary and critical care, infectious disease, tele-ICU, as well as associated ambulatory areas. He will be responsible for driving excellence in key areas, including patient safety and quality, patient experience, in addition to supporting the hospital-based medicine team.

Over the past six years, Feinstein has served in various leadership roles at Novant Health including system director for tele-ICU and most recently as clinical physician executive of pulmonary and critical care, Triad Region. As systemwide sepsis co-director, Feinstein co-wrote a sepsis whitepaper and provided expert guidance on front-line protocols, with his work emphasizing clinician-led leadership in early sepsis recognition.
Feinstein is double board-certified in internal medicine and critical care and has been practicing for over 22 years. He completed his residency and chief residency at St. Agnes Hospital Center Internal Medicine and fellowship at RUSH Presbyterian - St. Luke’s Medical Center Critical Care.
