WILMINGTON, N.C. Novant Health has named two new presidents to lead Brunswick and Scotts Hill medical centers.
Kevin Briggs is the new president of Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center, and Grant Rush will serve as president of the future Novant Health Scotts Hill Medical Center.
In their new roles, Rush and Briggs will oversee hospital operations at Scotts Hill and Brunswick Medical Centers, working closely with campus leaders and physicians. Their leadership will focus on operational excellence, delivering a remarkable experience for patients, team members and the coastal community while fostering engaged teams and00 strong community partnerships.

Briggs brings 22 years of healthcare operations experience and a service-first leadership philosophy to his role. He has spent two decades with the organization, most recently serving as senior director of laboratory and respiratory care services, health equity, and belonging for the Coastal Region. He holds a Master of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from the Medical University of South Carolina.
Locally, Briggs launched the Novant Health Healthcare Explorer Program, introducing hundreds of high school students to careers in healthcare. He has also supported academic and industry partnerships, including the launch of Cape Fear Community College’s first medical laboratory technology program and respiratory therapy programs at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. These initiatives, along with strategic talent partnerships, have been instrumental in building sustainable, high-quality care teams across the region.
Rush brings 15 years of healthcare executive experience to his role, with expertise in surgical and cardiovascular operations. Most recently, he served as vice president of the surgical institute at Novant Health, where he partnered with multidisciplinary leaders to advance coordinated care and improve patient outcomes. He is recognized for his collaborative leadership style and commitment to patient-centered care.
Rush holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has been with the organization since 2011. He remains active in community leadership, serving on the board for Lower Cape Fear Lifecare.
