Novant Health opens new spine clinic in High Point

High Point, N.C. – To help patients suffering with chronic back and neck pain, Novant Health today opened a new spine clinic at 1226 Eastchester drive in High Point. The goal of the new clinic, Novant Health Spine Specialists - High Point, is to provide the latest in nonsurgical treatment and pain relief therapies to help patients improve function and get back to their daily activities. The clinic will specialize in treating a wide variety of patients, including those with long-lasting joint discomfort in the neck, back, hip and knee.

“Approximately 20% of all American adults live with some type of chronic pain,” said Dr. Anuj Shah, an interventional pain management physician at Novant Health Spine Specialists. “While chronic pain can certainly manifest in different places throughout the body, back pain consistently ranks as one of the most common and debilitating forms. For most of us, we simply don’t realize or perhaps take for granted how much we rely on our spine to provide everyday support. That is, until pain starts to affect our daily routines. Our goal with the new clinic is to address that pain at its source and to help our patients get moving again.”

While surgery may be recommended for some patients, the care team at Novant Health Spine Specialists is committed to working with each patient to develop a treatment plan that may include a referral to rehabilitation therapy, pain management injections and/or a minimally invasive procedure.

The new Novant Health Spine Specialists High Point location is staffed by Dr. Anuj Shah, a board-certified anesthesiologist, and Christine Zdeb, an adult-gerontology nurse practitioner who specializes in pain management.

  • Shah earned his medical degree at Northwestern University. He went on to complete his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Michigan and a fellowship in pain medicine at Duke University. When it comes to pain management, Shah blends a modern, traditional and holistic approach to patient care. His goal is to reduce pain and improve the quality of life for each of his patients. When not at work, Shah enjoys cooking and traveling the world.
  • Zdeb earned her MSN degree in nursing at Duke University. She has worked in pain management and neurosurgery since 2020 and she is board-certified in adult gerontology primary care. As a medical provider, Zdeb specializes in pain management and anesthesiology with a focus on disorders of the spine.
