Novant Health Rowan Medical Center Foundation invites the community to “Paint the Town Pink”

SALISBURY, N.C. - For the fourth year, Novant Health Rowan Medical Center Foundation is teaming up with local city and county offices, businesses and community members in Rowan County to “Paint the Town Pink” with pink ribbons during the month of October for breast cancer awareness. The community is invited to support the initiative by purchasing for a dollar a pink ribbon in memory or honor of a loved one.

Over the past three years, the Salisbury-Rowan County communities have helped Novant Health Rowan Medical Center Foundation raise over $3,500 to support breast health. For the entire month of October, the Rowan Medical Center Foundation wants to spread awareness – and the color pink – throughout the community. Every dollar will go toward supporting breast health in the community. The hope is that all of the ribbons sold will be taped to store fronts, walls anywhere one can find a space for the entire month of October. Each ribbon has a space where each customer can write his or her name or honor or memorialize a loved one.

Of the funds donated, 100 percent stay within the Salisbury-Rowan County community. Over the past three years, funds raised through this initiative have helped Rowan Medical Center Foundation purchase the first 3D mammography scanner for the breast center on Julian Road. Last year, all funds raised went to the foundation’s Breast Health Fund which covers the cost of screening mammograms, diagnostic mammograms and ultrasounds for women who are uninsured or underinsured. This year, all funds will be going to the Rowan Medical Center Foundation’s Breast Health Fund.
