THOMASVILLE, N.C. – Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of four new members to serve on its board, which provides stewardship and oversight of its operations and activities. New members are Dr. Beatriz Juncadella, business leader Colon Starrett, local pastor Dee Stokes and Dr. Joseph Stringfellow. The new appointments will be replacing Tom Holladay, Tammy Joyce, Rick Phillips, TJ Slaughter and Jerry Smith.
Brief bios of the new board members are below:
Beatriz Juncadella, MD
Juncadella has practiced medicine at Thomasville & Archdale-Trinity Pediatrics since 2005. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina and medical school at East Carolina University School in Greenville, North Carolina. “Dr. Bea,” as she is known locally, is fluent in both Spanish and French. She is a volunteer and board member at the Thomasville YMCA, on the missions committee Grace Community Church and runs a clinic in her native Nicaragua.
Colon Starrett
Starrett is the former general manager of Rex Oil Company and has been involved in leadership roles or on boards with a number of local organizations, including Bank of North Carolina (now Pinnacle), Thomasville City School Board, Thomasville Jaycees, Thomasville Merchants Association, Thomasville Cooperative Community Ministries, Thomasville United Way (now United Way of Davidson County), Tom A. Finch Community YMCA, Thomasville Lions Club, Thomasville Area Chamber of Commerce, Davidson County Heart Fund, Thomasville Housing Authority, Thomasville Community Foundation and others. He attended High Point College (now High Point University) in North Carolina and is also known for being a longtime basketball official at the high school and college levels and was inducted into the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2018.
Dee Stokes, EdD
Dee Stokes is the lead pastor at Unity United Methodist Church. Stokes completed her bachelor’s degree from the UNC Charlotte, a master’s degree in public administration from DeVry University, a doctorate of education and an education specialist degree, both from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. She also holds a certificate in theology and ministry from Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey and has completed studies at additional seminaries. Stokes has been heavily involved in a number of local and area organizations, including the Rotary Club, Thomasville Multicultural Committee, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Family Services of Davidson County and Thomasville City School Board. Before her time in ministry, she worked as an educator and a basketball coach for almost 20 years. Her coaching career included serving as head women’s basketball coach at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina and Southeastern University in Florida.
Joseph Stringfellow, MD
Stringfellow currently works as an OB-GYN with Novant Health Thomasville OB/GYN. He received his bachelor’s degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C. and completed medical school at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He has membership and has been involved in several area organizations, including the American Congress of Obstetrics & Gynecology, The North Carolina Obstetrical & Gynecological Society, Delta Omega Honor Society in Public Health, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America.
