WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Building on its promise to bring remarkable care to the region, Novant Health has received approval from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to build a 50-bed community hospital in Concord. Novant Health Cabarrus Medical Center, slated to open in 2030, will be located at 2401 Trinity Church Road in Concord, providing expanded access to care for people across the growing region, particularly residents of Cabarrus, Rowan and Stanly counties.
“The state's approval of our certificate of need application allows us to move forward with a new community hospital that will be a critical access point, filling an over 40-mile gap between our hospitals in Rowan and Mecklenburg counties,” said Dr. Sid Fletcher, senior vice president, Novant Health, and president of the Novant Health Charlotte Region. “Simply put, we’re delivering on our commitment to meet our patients where they are. We know many residents in this area have traveled long commutes for care at our facilities in Charotte and Salisbury. Now, we can bring that same care closer to home for them.”
Understanding that many health conditions can and should be managed effectively in a community hospital environment, Novant Health’s state-of-the-art, energy-efficient facility will deliver a wide range of patient-centered services to meet the community’s growing need for top-tier care. Plans for the new hospital include 50 beds, an emergency department, procedure rooms, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, labor and delivery, general medicine and surgical specialty care, with the flexibility to expand based on future demands.
Novant Health Cabarrus Medical Center is the next step in expanding Novant Health’s network in Cabarrus County and the surrounding areas, allowing residents to conveniently access a full range of care – from primary and urgent care to specialty care including neurology, maternity, psychiatry and physical therapy.
