MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – Novant Health is opening its new Center for Women’s Health at East Cooper Medical Center, marking a significant expansion of comprehensive, coordinated care for women across the Lowcountry. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held June 11 to celebrate the milestone, and patient appointments begin in the new location June 22.
The approximately 40,000-square-foot facility located at 881 Leonard Fulgham Blvd. brings a wide range of services together under one roof — including ob-gyn care, mammography, surgery, urogynecology and diagnostic services — making it easier for patients to access seamless, high-quality care in one convenient location.

“This center builds on East Cooper’s long-standing commitment to women’s health and reflects how we are continuing to invest in the needs of our community,” said Kirsten Royster, president of Novant Health East Cooper Medical Center and Novant Health’s Charleston area. “By bringing multiple specialties together in one place, we’re improving access, enhancing coordination and creating a more supportive experience for every patient we serve. We look forward to continuing to grow a trusted team of experts dedicated to caring for women through every stage of life.”

The new center reflects Novant Health’s commitment to excellence in women’s health while expanding access to both routine and specialized services. Women’s health clinics located in the Mullis Building will relocate this month to the new center on the East Cooper Medical Center campus, just steps away.
“Women’s health is not one-size-fits-all. It evolves through every stage of life,” said Laura Stickler, MD, ob-gyn with Novant Health East Cooper OB/GYN. “This center will be a trusted destination for prevention, education and specialized care, bringing together a team of experts dedicated to supporting women. Whether a patient is seeking routine care, guidance through menopause or treatment for a complex condition, they will benefit from a coordinated approach designed around their unique needs.”

In addition to obstetrics and gynecology services, the center strengthens access to subspecialty care, including urogynecology.
“Many women live with conditions they may feel uncomfortable talking about or assume are just part of aging, which is often not the case,” said Heather Barbier, MD, urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery specialist with Novant Health Urogynecology and Surgery - East Cooper. “This new facility creates a safe, welcoming space where women feel comfortable sharing their concerns and getting the care they deserve, with advanced treatment options available close to home.”
