THOMASVILLE, N.C. – Novant Health is expanding access to expert urology care in Davidson County with the addition of Dr. Michael Perttunen, a urologist with advanced training in treating prostate cancer and a broad range of other urinary tract conditions.
“One in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer,” said Perttunen. “While that’s a staggering statistic, the good news is that most men will not die from it. Here in Davidson County, our focus is on raising awareness about the importance of early detection and providing full-service care, close to home, for our patients.”
Perttunen earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Florida and his medical degree at Florida Atlantic University. He went on to complete a five-year residency program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Perttunen specializes in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgical procedures.
Perttunen is now seeing patients at Novant Health Davidson Urology, with convenient locations in Lexington and Thomasville. These clinics provide comprehensive urology care to patients of all ages. This includes treatment for prostate cancer, erectile dysfunction, kidney stones, male and female incontinence, pediatric urologic conditions and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a common cause of urinary blockage.
While noninvasive treatment options are always prioritized, patients also have access to the latest in surgical technology and clinical expertise at nearby Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center.
A referral from a primary care provider is required to schedule an appointment.
