WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health Heart & Vascular Institute announces Dr. Howard Haronian as system physician executive, effective June 30. In this role, he is responsible for ensuring operational excellence and clinical advancement of cardiovascular services across all Novant Health’s heart and vascular clinics and 19 hospitals. Serving as the primary physician leader to more than 155 clinicians, Haronian will lead all cardiovascular initiatives to help deliver high quality patient services, support regional network development and enhance care coordination.

Haronian most recently served as vice president and chief quality and innovation officer for Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare Heart & Vascular Institute, where he led clinical integration, performance improvement, data reporting and analytics across the health system. During his 30-year career, Haronian also founded a specialty private practice and served as physician-in-chief of Hartford HealthCare East Region.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Haronian has experience as an entrepreneur and med-tech startup mentor. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease and has served more than 20 years on the clinical faculty of Yale School of Medicine.
Haronian earned his undergraduate degree from Brown University and his medical degree from Weill-Cornell Medical College. He completed his medical residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital followed by fellowships in cardiovascular medicine, nuclear cardiology, and interventional cardiology at Yale School of Medicine, where he also completed the Yale Management Program for Physicians.
