Richard Walsh named senior vice president and president of urgent care operations and transformation for Novant Health Enterprises

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Richard Walsh has been named senior vice president of Novant Health and president of Novant Health urgent care operations and transformation. In his new role, Walsh will manage Novant Health’s joint venture with GoHealth Urgent Care, support the growth of new urgent care sites and lead the transformation and expansion of Novant Health’s on-demand virtual care platform.

Walsh brings more than 25 years of experience in health care management, operations and strategy, with a focus on urgent care, primary care and on-demand care services. He has extensive expertise in new business development, acquisitions, partnerships and joint ventures, as well as financial and operational performance improvement.

Most recently, Walsh served as the chief operating officer of CareSpot Urgent Care, which operates 50 urgent care and occupational health facilities in Florida.

Walsh has an MBA from Florida Atlantic University and a BA in psychology from University of Miami. He is a member of several professional associations, including the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) where he served as a board member for the Southeast Regional ACHE chapter, the Urgent Care Association (UCA), current treasurer for the Southeast Regional Urgent Care Association (SERUCA), the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).  

Walsh began in his new role on Aug. 26.
