THOMASVILLE, N.C. – On Friday, Oct. 1, the Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center Foundation will host the fifth annual Jane Burt Williams Memorial Golf Classic at Colonial Country Club in Thomasville. All proceeds will go toward the construction of a new Wellness and Education Center on Thomasville Medical Center’s campus.
The tournament is named in honor of Jane Burt Williams, the late wife of Dr. David Robert Williams Sr. Jane was well known for her faith, heart for service and devotion to the people of Thomasville.
“As a community, we’ve come to look forward to this golf tournament every year,” said Justin Finch, chair of the golf committee. “Not only does it bring us together to support the expansion of health care services in our own backyard, but it also allows us to remember and honor the life and legacy of Jane Burt Williams.”
The Wellness and Education Center will be located in the 18,000-square-foot former health department and be used to tackle some of Davidson County’s most pressing health needs, including access to behavioral health services, outpatient physical rehabilitation and chronic disease management. The center will also offer a variety of health education classes, including a BabyCafe for new and nursing mothers.
“We’re very grateful for the strong community support we’ve received for the new Wellness and Education Center,” said Heather Egan, chief philanthropy officer for the Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Foundation. “For more than 90 years, Thomasville Medical Center has faithfully served the people in and around Davidson County, and this new center will build upon that commitment by providing patients with enhanced access to the specialized care they need, closer to home.”
The tournament will be played at Colonial Country Club, located at 7047 Colonial Club Drive in Thomasville. It will feature a captain’s choice format and have shotgun starts at 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for morning players, while lunch and dinner will be provided for afternoon golfers.
