Top heart and stroke care: American Heart Association recognizes Novant Health for exceptional patient outcomes in heart failure and stroke

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Several Novant Health hospitals and an affiliated emergency medical service (EMS) provider have been recognized by the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines quality achievement awards for continuing to deliver high-quality, coordinated care for patients experiencing heart failure and stroke.

“Every moment matters when a patient is experiencing a stroke or is admitted to the hospital when their heart is failing,” said Dr. John Mann, president of specialty institutes, Novant Health. “These awards recognize the commitment our heart and stroke care teams have made to meeting rigorous American Heart Association standards and creating remarkable outcomes for our patients.”

Get With The Guidelines awards recognize organizations for implementing quality-improvement measures to ensure patients receive efficient and coordinated care aligned with nationally recognized, research-based guidelines. Research shows when hospitals adhere to these guidelines, they save more lives and patients recover more quickly with fewer returns to the hospital.
