Two Novant Health hospitals score 4th Magnet status, top 2% in nation

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Recognition Program recently honored Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center and Novant Health Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital with their fourth consecutive redesignation, catapulting the medical centers into the top 2% of hospitals with Magnet designations across the country.

Achieving Magnet designation requires that these organizations have met the most stringent, evidence-based standards of nursing excellence in patient care delivery. It is a results-driven recognition that fosters nurse engagement, and the role nurses play as members of the interprofessional team to improve patient outcomes and reduce health care costs.

Patients can be assured that they are receiving top-tier care within a Magnet program. Patients receiving care at Magnet-recognized hospitals have been recorded as experiencing lower mortality rates and greater satisfaction during their stay and are able to go home sooner. Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center has been designated as a Magnet organization since 2008.

“We’re incredibly proud to be in the top 2% of all hospitals in the country, with our 4th Magnet Designation,” said Michael Vaccaro, senior vice president of nursing at Novant Health. “Achieving and maintaining this recognition four times is no easy task, and this is truly a testament to our team’s commitment and dedication to provide safe and high-quality care for our patients in the Charlotte region.”

Published research has shown that hospitals with Magnet recognition have positive outcomes for patients, nurses and the workplace. Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center was recognized for four exemplars, including registered nurse satisfaction, which is not commonly seen in most Magnet hospitals.

Team members at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center and Novant Health Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital will take part in a highly anticipated “watch party” celebrating the meaningful milestone for these care facilities.
