Winston-Salem, N.C. - Neurosurgeon Rashid Janjua, MD, has joined the Novant Health Forsyth Brain and Spine practice located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Previously Dr. Janjua was assistant professor of neurosurgery, vascular surgery and radiology as well as director of the division of endo-cerebrovascular surgery and interventional stroke program at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Dr. Janjua is one of a handful of surgeons in the country qualified to treat blood vessels of the head and neck with conventional surgical methods or minimally invasive endovascular techniques.
Dr. Janjua earned a doctorate in medicine at the Leiden University in the Netherlands and gained clinical experience in neurosurgery at the Academic Hospital Rotterdam-Dijkzigt and MCH Westeinde Hospital, both in the Netherlands. He was a clinical fellow in neurosurgery at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati and a neurosurgical resident at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. His fellowships include general neurosurgery in Cincinnati, peripheral nerve surgery in New Orleans, cerebrovascular and skull base surgery in Tampa, Florida, and endovascular neurosurgery in Hamilton, New Jersey and Buffalo, New York. He has conducted extensive research in skull base surgery, cerebral aneurysms, stroke and intracerebral hematoma evacuation. He has been published in various academic periodicals including Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery, Neurosurgery, Neurosurg Pediatrics and Neurointerv Surg from 1999 to 2014.
Dr. Janjua is also an avid squash player, is currently pursuing an MBA and enjoys spending time with his family.
