Construction crews are in the midst of exciting work in Western North Carolina, where Novant Health is preparing to open two new ambulatory surgery and outpatient services centers in Asheville.

The new facilities are designed with patients in mind, offering modern spaces, advanced technology and a more convenient experience for outpatient procedures.

It’s all part of our quest to meet the growing healthcare needs of the region and to ensure that Novant Health’s ambulatory and outpatient care is available where and when people need it most. Here’s what’s underway:

Novant Health South Asheville Medical Plaza

SAMP2WaitingArea

In spring 2026, Novant Health South Asheville Medical Plaza will open at 1815 Hendersonville Road with more than 38,000 square feet of specialty clinics, procedural spaces and two operating rooms. The medical plaza is located in a former Gold’s Gym. The facility will focus on women’s care and cancer services, including mammography, gynecology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and surgical oncology.

Novant Health South Slope Outpatient Surgery Center

SAMP2WaitingArea

Work will begin in mid-October on an outpatient surgery center at 191 Biltmore Ave., in Asheville’s South Slope district. Crews will begin renovating an existing building to open in early 2027. The center will be nearly 27,000 square feet and include space for specialty care clinics, as well as four operating rooms for a variety of outpatient surgical needs that could include colorectal, vascular, urology and ophthalmology.

It will be designed to handle complex outpatient surgeries, with the ability to offer extended stay for patients who need a little more time to recover before going home.

Expanded access to award-winning care

The demand for ambulatory surgery and outpatient specialty centers is growing, as both patients and physicians seek convenient, safe and lower-cost options for outpatient procedures.

So, we’re proud to be meeting this need in Western North Carolina — reinforcing our commitment to ensure that care is available close to home for more patients in the Carolinas.
