Novant Health is doing more than expanding access to innovative care in Western North Carolina. We’re building long-lasting partnerships that strengthen our local communities, neighbors, friends, and family.
Our team has demonstrated its commitment to Buncombe County and surrounding WNC communities by supporting a local mental health nonprofit, collaborating with area colleges and universities and engaging with residents at local events. Every opportunity leaves us excited about the relationships yet to come.
During Hurricane Helene, Novant Health partnered with Asheville’s All Souls Counseling Center to provide on-site therapy at local care stations and offer emotional support to impacted residents. We were honored to partner with them again as a presenting sponsor at their annual Mental Health Matters 5K at UNC Asheville in September.
During September, Novant Health was also privileged to contribute to the Asheville Chamber of Commerce's “Heroes of Helene: Honoring Recovery & Resilience Together.” The event was an inspiring tribute to healthcare workers and first responders who tirelessly assisted the WNC community following the devastating disaster. As the food and beverage sponsor, Novant Health staff met hundreds of attendees affected by the storm.
We’re also looking for ways to show up for the day-to-day needs of people across WNC. Our outreach team recently participated in Healthy Aging Day with the YMCA of Western North Carolina. The event allowed us to host an informational booth alongside other partners supporting older adults.
Our ties to Western North Carolina keep getting stronger as we meet more partners, students and neighbors. We're honored to connect with leading educational institutions in the Asheville area and beyond, including Western Carolina University and AB Tech. Both schools graciously hosted us on their campuses to learn more about their healthcare programs and how they are educating the next generation of students.
Our dedication to WNC also involves teaming up with other local healthcare providers, such as Messino Cancer Centers. This fall, Novant Health coordinated with Messino Cancer Center’s Covers for Cancer and Caps for Cancer hat and blanket drive, resulting in the donation of more than 1,000 knitted caps and hundreds of blankets to patients in our area undergoing cancer treatment.
