Da Vinci SI Surgical System now at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center

Bolivia, North Carolina, Feb. 8, 2017– Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center recently added the da Vinci Si robotic surgical system to its services. While urologic and gynecologic minimally invasive procedures became available with the installation of the medical center’s first da Vinci robot in 2012, this new da Vinci Si system gives patients a minimally invasive option for general surgery procedures as well.

Da Vinci robotic surgery is a less invasive technique and offers several potential benefits, including a shorter hospital stay, less blood loss, fewer complications, less need for narcotic pain medicine, a faster recovery and smaller incisions associated with minimal scarring.

“We are excited to add the new da Vinci Si system to our surgical offerings at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center,” said Dr. Matthew Benenati, general surgeon with Novant Health Surgical Associates. “This state-of-the-art technology allows us to expand our robotic surgery options to include general surgery and benefits our patients by making operations safer with a faster recovery and less pain.”

The da Vinci Si surgical system offers several enhanced features including:

  • Dual surgeon-console capability to support training and collaboration during minimally invasive surgery
  • High-definition 3-D vision
  • An updated user interface for streamlined setup and operating room turnover.
  • Extensibility for digital operating room integration
