WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Dr. Stan Fuller has been named the new system physician executive for the Novant Health Surgical Institute. In his new role, Fuller will provide administrative and clinical leadership for the systemwide Surgical Institute and anesthesia service lines. He will be responsible for recruitment, retention, operational excellence and ensuring continual clinical advancement of the Surgical Institute across all Novant Health hospitals and ambulatory sites.
Fuller, who is board-certified in general surgery and colon and rectal surgery, most recently served as Novant Health’s senior vice president and chief clinical officer for the greater Winston-Salem region. In this role, Fuller oversaw patient safety and quality, capacity management, physician and advanced practice provider credentialing and peer review for the region. He was a founding member of the Novant Health Colon & Rectal Clinic.

A native of western North Carolina, Fuller graduated with distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in chemistry and then completed his general surgery training at Wake Forest University’s Bowman Gray School of Medicine. Following three years with Salem Surgical Associates, now part of Novant Health, Fuller completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Texas in Houston. In 2019, he returned to UNC to earn a Master of Health Administration at the Gillings School of Global Public Health.
