First baby born at Novant Health Haymarket Medical Center

Juliana and Daniel of Gainesville, VA, welcomed their baby boy on March 27 at the new Novant Health Haymarket Medical Center located at 15225 Heathcote Blvd., near the intersection of Interstate 66 and Route 15. At 8 pounds, 12 ounces, their son Isaac was delivered at 10:24 a.m. by Dr. Eugene Louie-Ng of Novant Health Lake Manassas OB/GYN with offices in Gainesville and South Riding, VA. Baby Isaac, younger brother to older sister Victoria, will claim the distinction of first baby born at Haymarket Medical Center. As part of the distinction, the family received a large gift basket from the Novant Health Auxiliary filled with local goodies.

“We’re honored to play a part in welcoming our community’s newest residents,” said Don Sedgley, president of Novant Health Haymarket Medical Center. Haymarket Medical Center’s secure women’s and children’s unit houses seven labor and delivery rooms, 16 private post-partum rooms with personal miniature refrigerators and convertible sofa beds for overnight visitors, two dedicated C-section operating rooms, a well-baby nursery with 16 bassinets that is staffed by an experienced team of neonatologists and staff certified in neonatal resuscitation program and neonatal resource nurses. Nurses’ care for both mother and baby using a family centered care nursing model. Breastfeeding support is provided by a lactation consultant and education classes and maternity tours will be offered.
