WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center has incorporated a dedicated obstetrics emergency department (OB-ED) to its maternity service offerings.
The OB-ED is located within the Novant Health Maya Angelou’s Center for Women’s Health and Wellness.
“We are proud to offer emergency obstetrics services within the women’s center at Forsyth Medical Center,” said Nicole Brenner, senior director of OB/GYN and children’s services for the Novant Health Women’s & Children’s Institute. “Expecting mothers should feel confident that they will receive remarkable care for themselves and their baby in any circumstance. The addition of the OB-ED provides expert care for mothers and babies that may need critical treatment in a timely manner.”
The new OB-ED, which opened Oct. 2, enhances maternity care by adding an extra layer of seamless support to the labor and delivery unit. The full-service OB-ED will be staffed 24 hours a day by a hospital-based, board-certified OB/GYN physician.
“By adding an OB-ED, we will be able to expedite the triage process and provide rapid emergency care for mothers and babies should the need arise,” said Dr. Jon Rosnes, a maternal-fetal medicine physician at Forsyth Medical Center. “This is an exciting time to join and build upon the proud labor and delivery history that exists here.”
In addition, the OB-ED at Forsyth Medical Center will:

Eliminate concern about where to go for emergency care if you are pregnant.

Provide patients with expedited evaluations by board-certified, experienced obstetricians.

Monitor mothers and babies for any complications.
