Matthews, N.C., Aug. 8, 2016 – Novant Health Matthews Medical Center has opened a brand new Women’s Center. The two-story, 26,000-square-foot addition links directly to the hospital and serves as a one-stop shop for the community’s maternity and gynecologic needs.
“Novant Health Matthews Medical Center has provided exceptional women’s services for more than 21 years,” said Roland Bibeau, president of Matthews Medical Center. “Our new Women’s Center allows us to better serve the growing needs of our community and your family.”
The Women’s Center features 10 new labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDPR) rooms, bringing the total number at Matthews Medical Center to 33. The 23 existing rooms have been renovated to match their newer counterparts, each featuring a private balcony, a sleeper chair and full bathrooms.
The center also houses three triage rooms, two antepartum (pre-delivery) rooms, an expanded level II neonatal intensive care unit, a women’s boutique, an outpatient lactation center and a conference center dedicated to hosting women’s health-related seminars and classes. The Women’s Center also features a separate entrance and covered parking area for patients.
In 2015, Matthews Medical Center delivered more than 2,000 babies. With this new expansion and the addition of 10 LDRP rooms, the hospital is more equipped than ever to serve the needs of the growing community.
“We recognize the need for comprehensive, personalized services when it comes to women’s health,” said Pat Campbell, vice president of women’s services for Novant Health. “That’s why our outstanding providers are dedicated to serving the women of Union and Mecklenburg counties so that they, and their families, will have the best experience possible at our facility.”
Patients at the Women’s Center will have access to all of the comprehensive women’s health services Matthews Medical Center has to offer, including 3-D mammography and urogynecology services.
Mothers and babies in both high-risk and routine pregnancies at the Women’s Center will also have access to board-certified maternal-fetal medicine specialists and neonatologists. Our experienced providers will manage the health concerns of both mom and her baby before, during and after pregnancy.
