Winston-Salem, NC, Feb. 23, 2016 Novant Health Cancer Care and Novant Health breast centers at Forysth Medical Center and Medical Park Hospital have earned re-accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). The program administered by the American College of Surgeons is only given to those centers that are committed to providing the highest level of quality breast cancer care. Centers that are chosen undergo a rigorous evaluation and review of their performance.
Novant Health Cancer Care and Novant Health breast centers in the Winston-Salem area are among ten breast programs within the health system to earn the prestigious three-year designation. Receiving care at a NAPBC-accredited facility means that a patient has access to the most exceptional care including:

The American Cancer Society estimates that 246,660 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women this year. Moreover, many hundreds of thousands of women with benign breast disease will need medical evaluation and treatment.
In order to receive the accreditation, a breast center must demonstrate compliance with standards established by the NAPBC for treating women diagnosed with the full spectrum of breast disease.
