Novant Health Carmel OB/GYN welcomes its first midwife, Tina Hayes

CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 28, 2017 – Residents of southern Mecklenburg County have a new face in town for women’s healthcare. Tina Hayes, certified nurse-midwife, has joined the qualified team of obstetricians and gynecologists at Novant Health Carmel OB/GYN in southeast Charlotte.

“My life’s work has been about serving women and supporting birth and life choices. Women deserve to be empowered and supported in every aspect and scope of their lives,” said Hayes. “My role is quite small, because it takes a village. I am so proud of our Charlotte birth community and the support that exists for women, children and families.”

Hayes has been working on behalf of women’s health for over 25 years and is eager to bring the practice of midwifery to Carmel OB/GYN and to Novant Health Matthews Medical Center, where she will deliver babies. Carmel OB/GYN has three clinic locations in Monroe, Blakeney and the Arboretum.

“I feel as though I am leaving a legacy behind in Pineville, but I am so excited to build a new legacy and bring a midwifery choice and access to another part of town,” said Hayes of her new role.

Hayes is qualified to perform obstetrical deliveries in addition to providing care before, during and after pregnancy. She will be caring for patients at the Blakeney office, located at 593 Blakeney Park Drive, Suite 100, in Charlotte. Office hours vary, but Hayes is accommodating appointments as early as 7 a.m. and as late as 6:45 p.m.

Midwives have specialized training in women’s health and are available to provide a full range of women’s services. Carmel OB/GYN specializes in routine obstetrics and gynecology, complicated pregnancies, gynecological surgery including advanced laparoscopic surgeries and da Vinci robotic surgery, incontinence, menopausal issues and a variety of other women’s health-related issues.
