Residents of south Rowan and the China Grove area have a new face in town for women’s health care. Sharon Kay Varner, a certified nurse-midwife, has joined the qualified team of obstetricians and gynecologists at Novant Health Carolina Women’s Health Associates that include Dr. Jessica Blumenthal, Dr. Erin Grey, Dr. James Murphy, Dr. Michael Stadler and Dr. Holly Stevens.
Varner has been working on behalf of women’s health for over 20 years in obstetrics and 14 years as a nurse midwife. She is excited to bring the practice of midwifery to Carolina Women’s Health Associates where she offers personalized care, education and guidance to patients at the China Grove office, located at 1965 South U.S. Highway 29.
Certified nurse-midwives are registered nurses who have graduated from a nurse-midwifery education program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME) and have passed a national certification examination. Nurse midwives have specialized training in women’s health and are qualified to provide care to women throughout their lifespan – from adolescence through menopause.
Carolina Women’s Health Associates specializes in obstetrics and gynecology, complicated pregnancies, gynecological surgery including advanced laparoscopic surgeries, incontinence, menopausal issues and a variety of other women’s health-related issues. The office has locations in Salisbury and China Grove.
