Novant Health’s plans to significantly boost care options north of Wilmington are advancing with the completion of a 60,000-square-foot medical office building, which sits within view of the future Novant Health Scotts Hill Medical Center.
The new Novant Health Scotts Hill Medical Plaza will save residents travel time for outpatient care and cancer treatment. As a Novant Health Cancer Institute hub, the location will offer both infusion treatments and radiation therapy.
“We’re grateful to provide our community and our care teams with a brand-new building full of the latest equipment and technology,” said Laurie Whalin, who will serve as president of Scotts Hill Medical Center and is chief operating officer for the Novant Health Coastal Region. “This expansion carries added meaning for us because we know this will provide convenient access to advanced specialty care, especially by providing a one-stop location for cancer care.”
The medical plaza’s outpatient services include primary care, heart and vascular, urology, neurology, pediatric specialty care, radiation oncology, general surgery, surgical navigation and rehabilitation services. It will open to patients on Dec. 11.
The expanded care options will serve patients from across the region, especially the growing U.S. 17 corridor of New Hanover County and Pender County. The new facilities are fulfilling Novant Health’s vision to provide a campus of medical services at the location, which already includes an outpatient surgery center and an emergency department that will more than double in size when it connects to the new hospital.
Scotts Hill Medical Center will be a 250,000-square-foot community hospital with a surgical focus. It will include operating rooms, procedure rooms, a cardiac catheterization lab and space dedicated to gastroenterology and endoscopy procedures. Construction on that facility is ongoing and slated to wrap in 2026.
