SALISBURY, N.C. – Novant Health Heart & Vascular Institute in Salisbury held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening today to celebrate its relocation and the addition of vascular surgeon Dr. Nestor Cruz who joins cardiologists, Drs. Brian Fazia, Apur Kamdar, Telly Meadows, Kobina Wilmot and Dennis Wilson.    

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Honoring the leadership of Martin Luther King, Jr. and his service to others, Novant Health is accepting applications for a unique community leadership program called the H: Drive Experience; the “H” represents “hidden.” The program aims to identify less-heard, high-potential leaders who are invested and engaged in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community but who may otherwise lack access to leadership development opportunities. This is the second year Novant Health has offered this program.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – On May 15, the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit that evaluates the safety, quality and patient experience provided by hospitals across the country, released its spring 2019 Hospital Safety Grades. Novant Health is proud to share a tremendous improvement in its safety and quality scores.

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Novant Health Sports Medicine team has donated six automated external defibrillator (AED) devices to high schools in the Rowan-Salisbury Schools System, improving access to life-saving resources and enhancing emergency action plans for various athletic venues. This portable device delivers an electric shock through the chest to the heart, restoring a normal heart rhythm in victims of sudden cardiac arrest and helping to increase the chance of survival by more than 90 percent, according to the American Heart Association.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health is launching a digital health and engagement business division to lead the strategy and implementation of omni-channel digital solutions and develop a comprehensive digital health care delivery platform. The team will be led by Novant Health’s Dr. Hank Capps, senior vice president and chief digital health and engagement officer, and Stephanie Landry, senior director of digital health and engagement. 

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health has hired Vicky L. Free as the new senior vice president and chief marketing officer. Free has more than 25 years of experience in marketing and brand management. She reports to Jesse Cureton, executive vice president and chief consumer officer for Novant Health.

BOLIVIA, N.C.  – At a recent volunteer appreciation event, Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center leaders recognized the hospital’s 213 volunteers for the 25,853 hours of time – and the vital contributions – they gave to the hospital in 2018. Traditional volunteers and volunteer chaplains were celebrated with a luncheon at the River Room at Lockwood Folly.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Novant Health today announced its physician and clinic growth for the first quarter of 2019 in the greater Charlotte market. Within the three-month time period, the health care system opened 12 clinics and added 15 physicians.  

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.– Novant Health is pleased to announce that four hospitals in its greater Winston-Salem market have recently received Magnet status, a prestigious honor for nursing programs. These programs have been recognized for excellence and quality in nursing care by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program. 

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Novant Health is pleased to welcome Rosa Berry, nurse practitioner, to Novant Health Neurology in Shallotte. Berry joined the clinic in March and is accepting new patients.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health Pediatrics Oak Hollow will host an open house and ribbon-cutting event on Monday, May 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to celebrate its new location and a new Baby Café program now hosted at the same location.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health is pleased to partner with Cardinal Innovations Healthcare and the Mental Health Association of Forsyth County to offer a free mental health services workshop April 26 in Winston-Salem. The event, which is open to the public, is designed to raise awareness on the topic of mental health services available in the Winston-Salem community. The workshop will be geared toward local mental health professionals as well as interested citizens, stakeholders and community advocates.
