CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Novant Health recently launched Epic’s MyChart Care Companion, an interactive, highly individualized plan of care delivered to at-risk patients through user-friendly, accessible technology. Care Companion offers a roadmap for patients managing a chronic condition or navigating their follow-up care after a procedure.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health announced its physician and clinic growth for 2019 in the greater Winston-Salem market. Within the past 12 months, the health care system opened 28 clinics and added 67 physicians. The new clinics include 20 startups, four of which were joint ventures with GoHealth, and 8 satellite locations. A total of 77 clinics and 206 physicians were added across the health care system.  

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health, a not-for-profit health care system serving the Carolinas, Virginia and Georgia, added Joni Y. Davis as an ex-officio, nonvoting member to the board of trustees. Davis will replace Lee Myers as chair of the Southern Piedmont Region Board. Her term began Jan. 1, 2020, and will end Dec. 31, 2020.

To help curb the spread of flu, Novant Health is asking the community for assistance Winston-Salem, N.C. – Out of concern for the health and well-being of our patients, Novant Health is asking the community to keep visitors age 12 and under out of all acute care facilities due to the widespread outbreak of the flu virus throughout the community. This restriction is effective Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 7 a.m. until further notice.

BOLIVIA, N.C. ― Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center has partnered with Project SEARCH to provide internship experience for students ages 18 to 21 with developmental disabilities. The partnership is a collaboration of Novant Health, Brunswick Community College, Brunswick County Schools and the North Carolina Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services.

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Novant Health is pleased to welcome Dr. Ted Parcel to Novant Health Orthopedics and Spine - Brunswick. Parcel joined the clinic in January and is accepting new patients.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – On Dec. 17, five Novant Health medical centers were named a 2019 Top Hospital by The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit that evaluates the safety and patient experience provided by hospitals across the country. The Top Hospital Award comes following all five medical centers’ “A” Hospital Safety Grade, also from The Leapfrog Group.

BOLIVIA, N.C. ― The pharmacy team at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center received the 2019 American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) CEO’s Award for Courageous Service in recognition of the heroic efforts and inspiring, unselfish service during Hurricane Florence. Perry Allen, pharmacy manager at Brunswick Medical Center, received the award on behalf of all the hospital’s pharmacy team members.

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center is now offering cardiac calcium scoring for only $99 to help detect heart disease earlier. A cardiac score is a noninvasive, quick and simple CT scan that detects calcium buildup, or plaque, in the arteries and detects the risk for heart disease and a future cardiac event. Cardiac calcium scoring may also be covered by insurance.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. ― Three Novant Health physicians were featured in eight abstracts at the American Society of Hematology annual meeting, which was held Dec. 7 through 10 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The research focused on chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in adults, as well as hemophilia in children.

All clinics are accepting new patients.
