WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Novant Health recently announced a collaboration with Walgreens Find Care™ to offer features as part of a national network of telehealth providers that connects patients with more options to get convenient and affordable access to care from their computers and mobile devices. This initiative coincides with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to use telehealth to help address medical needs while supporting social distancing, an important step in managing the impact of COVID-19.
“At Novant Health, we have seen an incredible response from patients and care teams as we have worked to incorporate new digital health tools, once thought to be futuristic, into the way we deliver care,” said Dr. Hank Capps, senior vice president and chief digital health and engagement officer, Novant Health. “We are excited to collaborate with Walgreens Find Care to expand access to care for patients across North Carolina. Since the beginning of March, we’ve completed more than 75,000 digital health visits and currently have more than 2,500 providers available and ready to care for patients via digital services.”
Walgreens Find Care allows patients to connect with a local provider from trusted national and local health systems, like Novant Health, to receive care for common health and wellness needs like illness and injury, cough and cold, mental health services and chronic condition management. With expanded features and additional national and regional partners, patients can now connect with more than 30 providers who treat over 100 conditions through Walgreens Find Care, available through the Walgreens app or online at www.walgreens.com/findcare.
“The recent expansion of Walgreens Find Care is another example of how we are enabling patients to get care when and how they need it,” said Giovanni Monti, senior vice president of health care services, Walgreens Boots Alliance. “We continue to grow our partnerships with some of the most trusted local and national providers to offer telehealth solutions that can help patients better meet their acute and chronic care needs, especially during this unprecedented time of social distancing.”
Novant Health has a variety of digital health options for patients that range from an e-visit to scheduled and on-demand video visits. All patients need is a smartphone/laptop/tablet and a MyChart account, which is free. More than 1 million people now use the tool to communicate with their doctor, check their medical records and stay connected to their health care.
In addition to its established digital health options, Novant Health was one of the first health systems to open up a 24/7 helpline (1-877-9NOVANT) and an online coronavirus assessment tool, available in both English and Spanish, to help patients determine if they need to seek an in-person screening or test.
