WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit that evaluates the safety, quality and patient experience provided by hospitals across the country, has recognized Novant Health’s commitment to safety and quality by awarding the health care system nine “A” Hospital Safety Grades for its Spring 2023 Hospital Safety Grade scoring period.
The Leapfrog Group assigns grades to hospitals throughout the United States, based on a hospital’s ability to prevent medical errors and harm to patients. Hospital Safety Grade results are based on more than 30 national performance measures and are updated each fall and spring. Letter grades ranging from A to F are assigned to U.S. hospitals based on their ability to prevent errors, injuries, accidents and infections, and improve patient satisfaction.

“B” letter grade
- Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center
- Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center
This scoring period marks Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center and Novant Health Medical Park Hospital achieving 15 consecutive A’s over the past eight years. It also marks Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center for receiving nine consecutive A’s over the past five years.
