Novant Health taps C-Suite talent for new roles, leans into new era of healthcare and digital advancements

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – As Novant Health continues to transform to embrace the changing healthcare landscape, the health system announced today new roles for three of its executive team members.

“As healthcare continues to evolve rapidly, so does the need to evaluate the talent and skills needed to lead Novant Health into the future,” said Carl S. Armato, president and CEO, Novant Health. “These updates on our executive team display our capacity to build the expertise, rigor, creativity and capabilities required to deliver remarkable outcomes for our patients and the communities we serve. I look forward to our continued collaboration as we pave the way for a healthier future for all.”

John Gizdic will now serve as Novant Health’s chief operating officer, with the presidents of the greater Charlotte, greater Winston-Salem and North Carolina Coastal regions reporting to him, as well as Novant Health Medical Group and primary care for the system. Previously chief administrative officer, Gizdic will continue leading strategic integrations and growth, as well as lead the system’s disaster command center for hurricanes and other natural disasters.

“John’s experience and healthcare knowledge have made him a true utility player for Novant Health, and his proven collaborative and strategic leadership approach will ensure efficient operations across our system,” said Armato. “His unique skillset offers a wide range of support to our leadership teams, and we look forward to his continued input to help lead Novant Health into the new era of healthcare.”

Kim Henderson, previously chief patient experience officer and system chief of staff, will now serve as chief administrative officer. In this role, Henderson will assume oversight of Novant Health’s people and culture team as well as team member well-being, in addition to her existing areas of responsibility. Those include leading patient experience, protective services, employer solutions, patient services, community engagement, sports partnerships and Novant Health foundations.

“Kim has a proven track record of delivering results across a broad spectrum of initiatives and responsibilities, consistently partnering with leaders to drive Novant Health’s strategic priorities while building, directing and motivating high-performing teams,” said Armato. “I am confident that her leadership will position Novant Health to provide next-level remarkable care to our patients and team members.”

Onyeka Nchege has been promoted to executive vice president and chief digital and information officer. Previously serving on the executive leadership team for the last year as senior vice president and chief information officer, Nchege will build on his strong focus to drive successful digital transformations that enable system growth.

“As we lean into a new frontier of healthcare and technology, Onyeka will continue to lead Novant Health’s delivery of leading-edge digital consumer and team member capabilities, as well as advanced clinical solutions that enhance patient care,” Armato said. “Onyeka is a proven leader and I look forward to our increased collaboration in his new role.”
