CHARLOTTE, NC, Dec. 20, 2023 – Novant Health is pleased to announce that Saad Ehtisham, DHA, senior vice president, Novant Health and president of Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center and the Novant Health greater Charlotte market, will serve on an American Hospital Association (AHA) Regional Policy Board. Ehtisham will serve a two-year term as an at-large delegate of Regional Policy Board 3 beginning Jan. 1, 2024, and ending Dec. 31, 2026.
AHA has nine Regional Policy Boards (RPBs), which meet three times a year to foster communication between the AHA, its members and state hospital associations. The RPBs provide input on public policy issues considered by the board of trustees, serve as ad hoc policy development committees when appropriate, and identify needs unique to a region.
“I am honored to represent Novant Health through this appointment and look forward to connecting policymakers with those on the front lines of care,” Ehtisham said. “This is a natural extension of the work we are already doing at Novant Health, as we have experts across our organization working to develop meaningful policy solutions for patients and health systems alike.”
Ehtisham will have the opportunity to share the expertise of Novant Health clinicians directly with those who are influencing health care policy. His appointment follows Novant Health’s recent launch of its Center for Public Policy Solutions, a clinician-led, patient-focused research center designed to elevate public policies that impact healthcare. The Center’s first white paper provides invaluable insights into the challenges faced by patients and clinicians and offers solutions to address opaque coverage rules and confusing annual checkup policies.
Ehtisham is responsible for overseeing the market strategy, growth, and operational performance for Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center and the Novant Health greater Charlotte market. He is also an adjunct professor at UNC Wilmington and Florida International University. Ehtisham serves as a board member for the North Carolina Healthcare Association, Queens University of Charlotte, Charlotte Regional Business Alliance, Charlotte Sports Foundation, World Affairs Council of Charlotte and Charlotte Steeplechase Foundation. He previously served on the editorial board of the Journal of Healthcare Management through the American College of Healthcare Executives, the board of trustees at Cumberland University, and on the board of the Tennessee Hospital Association. He graduated from Central Michigan University with a doctor of health administration and holds two master's degrees in business administration and healthcare administration from Texas Woman’s University. Additionally, he holds a bachelor's degree in nursing and a Bachelor of Science from Baylor University.
