Haymarket, VA, April 28, 2016 – Novant Health Haymarket Medical Center is now offering alcohol recovery support through Transitional Recovery Services. Alcohol recovery support is a medical detoxification treatment and can be personalized for adults who are diagnosed with alcohol use disorder.
"We believe that alcohol addiction is treatable, and we want to help our patients recover from that addiction,” said Dr. Karyn O’Brien, clinical psychologist and one of the leaders responsible for the new service at Haymarket Medical Center. “This new service gives our patients an opportunity to have access to personalized, compassionate treatment close to home.”
Our team provides medically supervised detoxification in the hospital setting. The alcohol recovery support service includes:
- Short-term inpatient stay
- Medication management
- Education
- 24-hour medical supervision and care
- Individualized support and care connection

- After-care planning
Patients must be evaluated to ensure the right level of care for the service. These evaluations can be done at the emergency room at Haymarket Medical Center.
Once patients complete the inpatient treatment, they are discharged with an aftercare plan that meets their long-term goals.
