Novant Health Sports & Performance Medicine powered by EXOS has added sports performance dietitian Mary Glenn Yort, MS, RD, LDN, to its growing team of experts. Yort provides nutrition education and counseling designed to help individuals, teams and businesses achieve a higher level of performance.
“We are excited to welcome Mary Glenn to our team of performance professionals,” said Dr. Eric Warren medical director of Novant Health Sports Medicine. “She will provide the education and support our clients need to transform body composition, increase energy levels and improve performance through better nutrition.”
Through one-on-one counseling and group classes, Yort helps clients develop a better understanding of current nutritional intake, identify daily nutritional requirements. She also provides them with a personalized nutrition plan to meet their specific needs. For businesses and organizations, she works to develop strategic nutrition programs that align with organizational objectives.
“Nutrition provides the foundational support to fuel the mind and body and maximize performance,” said Yort. “The way that we fuel our bodies – in sports and in life – can make or break our performance.”
Originally from Augusta, Georgia, Yort has a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics from Auburn University and a master’s degree in exercise physiology from Florida State University with a concentration in sports nutrition. She is registered through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is licensed by the state of North Carolina to practice dietetics and nutrition intervention.
Yort has previous experience as a sports dietitian with EXOS in Phoenix, where she worked with UFC fighters, MLB players, NFL players and collegiate football players training for the NFL Scouting Combine.
