Three new providers join Charlotte locations
Charlotte, N.C. Sept. 17, 2015 — Non-invasive cardiologists Dr. Richard Browne and Dr. Sandy Charles and cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Tom Theruvath have recently joined Novant Health Heart & Vascular Institute in Charlotte.
Browne completed his fellowship in cardiology from The University of Virginia Medical Center and comes to Novant Health with over 10 years of experience as a non-invasive cardiologist. He specializes in transesophageal and stress echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and cardiac CT imaging.
Charles completed her fellowship in cardiology and was a chief cardiology fellow at New York University. She has special expertise in transesophageal and stress echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and cardiac CT imaging and a special interest in women’s heart health and the unique ways that heart disease can affect women.
Theruvath received his medical degree from the the Medizinische Hochschule in Hannover, Germany followed by postgraduate training in general surgery at the Charité - Virchow Klinik in Berlin. He then pursued academic clinical research at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and specializes in advanced surgical techniques for thoracic aorta, coronary artery and valvular heart disease interventions and in surgical therapies for heart failure.
