CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Just in time for the start of a new sports season, Novant Health has opened two “black and blue” clinics dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of sports-related injuries. In Charlotte, the clinic is available Friday evenings from 10 to 11 p.m. inside of Novant Health Urgent Care - Waverly, 11840 Southmore Drive, suite 100. In Cornelius, the clinic will be available Saturday mornings from 9 to 10 a.m. at Novant Health Lakeside Family Physicians, 19485 Old Jetton Road, suite 100.
Staffed by board-certified primary care sports medicine physicians and athletic trainers, the black and blue clinic is a cost-efficient, time-saving alternative to the emergency room. The team of experts will promptly assess an injury and develop a treatment plan to get student athletes back on the field as quickly and safely as possible. No appointment is necessary. Black and blue is free at the Cornelius location, while most insurance plans are accepted at the Waverly location.
“Novant Health is excited to continue to provide care for high school athletes again this fall,” said Dr. Eric Warren, medical director of sports medicine. “Our staff is prepared to diagnose and treat common sports-related injuries, including ankle sprains, broken bones and concussions. For high school student athletes, the clinic is one of the fastest and safest possible options for them to return to their chosen sport in a timely manner.”
Services include the evaluation and treatment of:
• Sprains and strains
• Fractures
• Concussions
• ACL or other ligament tears
The black and blue clinic will kick off in Charlotte Friday, Aug. 18 and Saturday, Aug. 19 in Cornelius, respectively.
