The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery renews Presbyterian Medical Center’s accreditation
Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center has been named a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence (BSCOE) for the third time since first receiving the designation in 2007. This renewed accreditation, granted by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), acknowledges Novant Health’s commitment to providing high-quality and safe care for bariatric surgery patients that exceeds clinical benchmarks and guidelines.
“We are proud to be nationally recognized again as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. Our bariatric team, whether they are in the office, on the floor or in the operating room, take great pride in providing our patients with the best experience and best outcomes possible,” said David Voellinger, MD, medical director of the Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center Bariatric Center. “This recognition reinforces our belief that we are providing excellent care for our patients struggling with severe obesity. We will continue to raise awareness, promote prevention and offer treatment and support for this chronic, life-threatening disease.”
The Bariatric Center at Presbyterian Medical Center was the first BSCOE in Charlotte and was first recertified in 2010. The Bariatric Center offers several services, including weight loss surgery seminars, a range of minimally invasive laparoscopic and single-incision surgical weight loss options, bariatric clinical nurse coordinators, nutritional counseling and support groups.
