Novant Health welcomes Dr. Karen Smith

Winston-Salem, N.C., Jan. 31, 2017 – Karen Smith, interventional cardiologist, recently joined the Novant Health Cardiology Winston-Salem clinic.
Smith will join the experienced heart and vascular team at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, performing diagnostic catheterizations and device procedures, such as balloon and stenting procedures. She specializes in treating patients who have suffered a heart attack and those with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She also has a special interest in women’s heart disease.
Smith earned her medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine where she also completed her residency and fellowship. She has spent the past 18 years at the University of Florida College of Medicine where she was an associate professor of medicine and served as director of the interventional cardiology fellowship training program. Smith is board-certified in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease.
