Novant Health, a not-for-profit health care system serving the Carolinas and Georgia, has added Dr. Christopher "Jay" Duggins to its board of trustees. A practicing anesthesiologist with Providence Anesthesiology Associates in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he is also past chair, Duggins has been involved with Novant Health in various capacities for more than 18 years.

Today, Novant Health, a not-for-profit integrated system of medical centers with more than 1,800 physicians providing care through six million annual patient visits at nearly 800 locations across North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, and Movano Health, a purpose-driven healthcare solutions company at the intersection of medical and consumer devices, announced the development of a beta program.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Colorectal cancer patients can receive top-quality care at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. Conveniently located in the heart of Charlotte, the hospital recently earned a three-year accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC), a quality program of the American College of Surgeons. Presbyterian Medical Center is the first in the region and second health care system in the state to obtain this accreditation.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Expectant parents across North Carolina can take comfort in knowing that U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in hospital rankings and consumer advice, named six Novant Health hospitals including Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center, Novant Health Matthews Medical Center, Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center and Novant Health Rowan Medical Center to its 2023 list of High Performing hospitals for Maternity Care. This is the highest award a hospital can earn for U.S. News’ Best Hospitals for Maternity Care. The annual evaluation is designed to assist parents and their doctors in making informed decisions about the best place to receive maternity care services.

The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit that evaluates the safety and patient experience provided by hospitals across the country, recognized six Novant Health hospitals with 2022 Top Hospital awards and two ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) with 2022 Top Ambulatory Surgery Center awards. The Top Hospital Awards come after the six* recognized medical centers also receiving an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Looking for a way to give back this holiday season? The Novant Health Hemby Holiday Toy Drive is currently collecting toy donations for patients as young as newborns to age 18 at Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital. The toy drive is designed to spread holiday cheer to the youngest patients in the community.

Four Novant Health hospitals have been named a “Best Hospital for Maternity Care,” by Money, formerly known as Money Magazine. Money partnered with The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization that collects and publishes data on patient safety and quality to publish its inaugural list.

All eligible Novant Health hospitals have been recognized in the inaugural 2022 Best Hospitals and Surgery Centers for Billing Ethics list by magazine and online news source, Money and national nonprofit watchdog organization, The Leapfrog Group.

Novant Health joins health systems across the country working to support an earlier peak in flu season, coupled with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases and ongoing COVID-19 impacts. These respiratory illnesses are specifically affecting the youngest among us, and Novant Health physicians urge awareness, preparedness and action across our communities to help keep everyone healthy.

Issue reminder about prevention and vaccination ahead of holiday season Out of concern for the health and wellbeing of the community, and due to the widespread prevalence of respiratory viruses such as RSV and flu among young children, several North Carolina health systems ask that children 12 and under not visit patients who are hospitalized. 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Novant Health, The Novant Health Foundation and respective donors recently celebrated the completion of phase one of the Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital expansion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony within Novant Health’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The expanded NICU space located in Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital will continue to provide critical care for babies born premature with enhanced space for patients and their families.
