Novant Health to begin administering booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine to 16-and-17-year-olds

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Following expanded emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Novant Health will begin offering Pfizer-BioNTech boosters to individuals age 16 and older on Monday, Dec. 13. Sixteen-and-17-year-olds can only receive a Pfizer-BioNTech booster while those who are 18 and older can receive any COVID-19 vaccine booster. Groundbreaking expansion marks addition of maternity care services at Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. – Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center broke ground today for its new 60,000-square-foot expansion, which will include the construction of a new fourth-floor birthing center. This will be the first time maternity care services have been offered at Kernersville Medical Center, which will provide a more convenient labor and delivery care option for expecting mothers in eastern Forsyth and western Guilford communities. The $55 million expansion project will also include the addition of medical beds, an expanded intensive care unit and the installation of a new heart and vascular lab.

Four Novant Health Ambulatory Surgery Centers Earn Top National Award for Outstanding Quality of Care

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – In recognition of quality and patient safety, four Novant Health Ambulatory Surgery Centers have been named a Leapfrog Top Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) in 2021, making up nearly a third of the only 13 selected nationally for the competitive award. This is the inaugural year of Leapfrog’s Top ASC award which honors top performers as verified by the Leapfrog ASC Survey. The award is presented by The Leapfrog Group, a national watchdog organization of employers and other purchasers widely acknowledged as the toughest standard-setters for health care safety and quality.   

Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center and Healthy Forsyth selected to participate in The Duke Endowment’s Healthy People, Healthy Carolinas initiative

Winston-Salem, N.C. – Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Foundation was awarded a $100,000 grant from The Duke Endowment to help improve health in Forsyth County. The grant will support the work of Healthy Forsyth, a diverse group of community organizations working collaboratively. Healthy Forsyth will join 10 existing North Carolina coalitions in The Duke Endowment’s initiative, Healthy People, Healthy Carolinas.

ONE Charlotte Health Alliance partners provide update on scholarship program promoting career and economic advancement

Novant Health to offer booster doses; announces updates to mass vaccination sites

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Following expanded emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Novant Health today announced that it will begin offering booster doses for everyone 18 and older on Tuesday, Nov. 23. Appointments are required for individuals seeking a booster dose to ensure availability.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Novant Health today announced that it has received straight A’s in the Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2021 Hospital Safety Grade scoring period. This makes Novant Health the largest healthcare system in North Carolina to ever achieve the highest mark for safety and quality across all of its hospitals. The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit that evaluates the safety, quality and patient experience provided by hospitals across the country. 

Grant to Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center Foundation funds mental health program for middle schoolers

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center Foundation was awarded a $400,000 grant over three years from The Duke Endowment to provide telemedicine and telepsychiatry services to middle school students in crisis. Novant Health collaborates with Brunswick County Schools staff to complement existing services and fill service gaps in behavioral and substance use disorder treatment for Brunswick County students in sixth through eighth grade. The program aims to provide early intervention to quickly address crises and support students with severe symptoms of depression, anxiety and/or trauma, in addition to connecting families with appropriate care.
