The Duke Endowment awards Novant Health $390,000 to support advance care planning for seriously ill patients

WINSTON-SALEM -- The Duke Endowment recently awarded a $390,000 grant to Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Foundation to provide advance care planning assistance for people facing chronic and serious illnesses. The grant will support Novant Health Choices and Champions® advance care planning facilitators who help people verbalize what matters most to them, identify their health care goals and name a health care champion. A health care champion is someone a person trusts to speak for the individual if that person is unable to make his or her own medical decisions.  

Novant Health partners with Senior Services to support the establishment of an Intergenerational Center for Arts and Wellness

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health has contributed $750,000 to Senior Services’ Creative Connections Capital Campaign to build a new Intergenerational Center for Arts and Wellness at 2895 Shore fair Drive in Winston-Salem. The new center, which will serve as an expansion of their Elizabeth and Tab Williams Adult Day Care Center, will help meet the daily needs of older adults living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia through interaction, arts and creative focused activities involving all generations.

Novant Health deploys a new community care cruiser to advance health equity across the Triad

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – To improve access to care for patients in Winston-Salem and the surrounding community, Novant Health recently introduced a new Novant Health Community Care Cruiser with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at Novant Health Today’s Woman OB/GYN in Winston-Salem. The 38-foot-long community care cruiser is part of Novant Health’s long-standing commitment to advance health equity for all patients. The new cruiser will help to remove barriers to care by improving access to routine screenings, chronic disease management and referrals to specialty care clinics and other social services.

Novant Health Launches Overnight Virtual Lactation Support

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – In efforts to support mothers around the clock, Novant Health has expanded its current lactation program by providing private, one-on-one video consultations between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. daily. The on-demand, virtual lactation consultations will connect families who need overnight support with a lactation expert so patients can share concerns, ask questions and get advice with little to no wait.

Novant Health adjusts visitor restrictions

Novant Health and Ottendorf Laboratories partner to expand operations of COVID-19 testing sites in Charlotte and Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., – Following weeks of high demand for testing amid the Omicron surge, Novant Health is partnering with Ottendorf Laboratories, an independent lab provider, to increase access to COVID-19 testing at its primary testing sites in Charlotte and Winston-Salem. With this partnership, staffing will transition from Novant Health to Ottendorf Laboratories, which will also conduct the tests of samples. Ottendorf Laboratories’ support of Novant Health’s testing operations is made possible by funding from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. 

Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center receives trauma center verification from the American College of Surgeons

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The trauma center at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center has recently been verified as a level II trauma center by the American College of Surgeons. While New Hanover Regional Medical Center has had a level II trauma designation from the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (NCOEMS) since 1989, this additional verification achievement recognizes the trauma center’s continued dedication to provide optimal care for injured patients.
